Teachers have a big influence in the classroom – their personal approach and daily mood creates the atmosphere, and can affect the students' performance, making their learning more enjoyable. However, teaching can be stressful and hard sometimes, including working long hours, so teacher burnout is a potential threat to their health. Therefore it is so important that school leaders, teachers and other school professionals nurture themselves, look after their own well-being by giving themselves the tools to manage stress and daily challenges.
Yoga can help teachers better cope with the physical and emotional demands of teaching by giving them energy and reducing their stress levels.
Physical health – improving strength, flexibility, posture and increasing immunity and resistance against illness;
Stress management – meditation and letting go;
Concentration - regular yoga practice trains the body and mind and bring it under control;
Memory power – breathing techniques and postures stimulating the brain;
Creativity – relaxing the mind and increasing blood circulation to the brain sets a conducive mood for creativity.
